Description

Variety originated in Egypt. Crimson purple leaves have a spinach-like taste. Much slower to bolt to seed than spinach. Good for baby greens too. Plants can reach 120-180 cm (4-6’) in height. In any batch of Red Fire Orach grown from seed, a small number of green leaved plants are possible. Matures in 45 days.

How to Grow

Direct sow in a sunny site every two weeks starting in late-spring through to mid-summer. Seed typical germinates in 10-14 days.

Planting Depth: 6 mm (1/4”). Seed Spacing: 5 cm (2”). Thin to: 20 cm (8”). Row Width: 60 cm (24”).

COMMENTS: Keep soil evenly moist. Harvest young leaves once plant reaches 20 cm (8”) in height. Pinch flower buds to encourage branching.
