Scotch Bonnet Pepper is a classic Caribbean hot pepper known for its intense heat and distinctive fruity flavour. Its unique shape resembles a traditional Scottish Tam o’ Shanter cap, giving this pepper its memorable name.
Widely used in Jamaican and Caribbean cooking, Scotch Bonnet peppers are an essential ingredient in traditional jerk sauces, hot sauces, marinades, and spicy dishes. The flavour is rich and fruity, with a heat level ranging from approximately 150,000–325,000 Scoville Heat Units.
Plants benefit from plenty of warmth and a long growing season. In protected conditions, they may be overwintered and grown for more than one season.
