Chicory - Catalogna (Seeds)

Description

An upright growing leafy chicory that’s full of bite and pizzazz! Produces tender, upright growing, dark green leaves to 30 cm (12″) long. A must have for traditional Italian salads! Harvest as baby greens in as quick as 24 days after sprouting. Taste is improved by a light frost!

How to Grow

Grow as you would lettuce. Sow as soon as the soil can be worked in the spring, then every two weeks thereafter to ensure a continuous supply. Sow seed about 3mm (1/8″) deep in rows 45cm (18″) apart. An even supply of moisture during the entire growth period is imperative for success. Harvest by cutting leaves from the main stem at least 2.5cm (1″) above the base. Avoid cutting into the crown where the root begins as new sprouts will often emerge from this area, extending the harvest. Best flavour and texture when leaves are young.
