Norstar is an early maturing, globe shaped onion that is suitable for both transplanting as started seedlings or for direct seeding. Bulbs consistently average 12 oz. in weight and have a nicely wrapped dark skin giving this onion great eye appeal. Norstar is highly tolerant to both Botrytis and Downy Mildew.

How to Grow

Seed can be started indoors in a soil-less growing medium in February. The seedlings can then be transplanted outside later in spring. Seed can also be sown directly outdoors from mid April 1/4 - 1/2" deep and 1/2" apart in rows 12" apart. Thin to 2" apart for cooking onions, and 3" apart for the sweet Spanish types. Onions do best in a sunny site with fertile, well drained soil. For best quality, keep onions evenly watered throughout the entire growing season. Bend over any flower stalks that start to grow so the plant's energy goes into building the bulb. Once packet sows approximately 20' of row.
