Turnip - Purple Top White Globe (Seeds)

Purple Top White Globe Turnip is a classic heirloom variety dating back to before 1880. It produces smooth, nearly round roots with bright purple shoulders above the soil and creamy white lower portions.

The roots have a mild, sweet flavour and can grow up to approximately 13 cm (5") across, although they are at their best for eating when harvested smaller at about 5–8 cm (2–3"). The young leafy tops are also edible and can be cooked as traditional turnip greens.

Both the roots and greens are a good source of vitamin C, making this an attractive and versatile crop for the vegetable garden.
