Voltaire is a vigorous, high-yielding asparagus variety specially bred for producing premium white asparagus, while also delivering excellent-quality green spears when grown without blanching.

To produce white asparagus, simply keep the developing spears protected from sunlight as they emerge in spring. Traditionally, soil or sand is mounded around the spears, although black mulch, a covered box, or another light-blocking method can also be used. The resulting white spears are especially tender with a mild, slightly nutty flavour.

Voltaire is a 100% male clonal hybrid known for its strong, tall plants and very early production once established. It is well suited to temperate climates and offers strong disease resistance.
