Beet - German Lutz (Seeds)
Description
Heirloom Vegetable. Variety originated in Germany. This deep red, globe shaped beet has a mild slightly sweet flavour and an evenly coloured interior. All of these attributes make it the ideal choice for a super Borscht. A good choice for soils that are less than ideal. Matures in 50 days.
How to Grow
Direct sow seed in a sunny spot every two weeks from early spring to early summer or later in summer for a fall crop. Germination typically occurs in 7-12 days.
Planting Depth: 1.25 cm (1/2”). Seed Spacing: 2.5 cm (1”). Thin To: 7.5 cm (3”). Row Width: 60cm (24”)
COMMENTS: Use thinnings for tasty baby greens. Beets make their best growth in moist, rich sandy loam. For best keeping, store mature beets with leaf stems cut off at 5 cm (2″) above the beet.
