Broccoli - Early Purple Sprouting (Seeds)
Description
Heirloom Vegetable. Variety originated in UK. Rather than produce a single large head, this winter sprouting broccoli produces many small purple florets. Needs 6 weeks of 10°C (50°F) to initiate floret development. Harvest the central floret as soon as it forms to promote the development of side shoots. Matures in 150 days.
How to Grow
Start seed indoors in a sterile growing medium in mid-spring. Transplant to a sunny spot from late May through early July for a fall harvest.
Planting Depth: 6 mm (1/4”). Seed Spacing: 7.5 cm (3”). Thin To: 45 cm (18”). Row Width: 60 cm (24”).
COMMENTS: This broccoli is best grown in hardiness zone 6 and up. Keep soil evenly watered. Young leaves, shoots and florets are very tasty raw or sautéed.
