Strawflower produces an abundance of rich burnt-orange blooms touched with deeper red-orange along the tips and undersides. As the flowers fully open, they reveal warm golden-orange centres, creating beautiful depth and colour in the garden.

The large, double blooms measure 5–7 cm (2–2.5") across and are carried on tall, branching stems. Flowering from late summer into fall, Strawflower is an excellent choice for cutting gardens. The papery blooms are especially prized for dried arrangements, but also make long-lasting and attractive fresh cut flowers.

For best results, start seeds indoors 6–8 weeks before the last frost. In areas with long summers, seeds can also be direct sown outdoors around mid-April.
