Canada Organic
- GMO Free
- Heirloom Variety
Huge, glossy green, white veined, crumpled leaves are the hallmark of this old favourite. Always produces a bumper crop of tasty leaves - even during periods of high temperatures. When harvesting leaves, carefully cut them from the crown. This will allow new leaves to sprout from the old crown and increase the harvest time of individual plants. A trusted variety for over 80 years!
How to Grow
Chard grows best in well drained soils with a pH of 6.5 to 7.5. Sow seed about 1/2-3/4" deep and 1" apart in rows 18" apart starting in mid spring. Sowing seed every two weeks until early summer will ensure continuous supply. Gradually thin out seedlings to 4" apart using the thinnings as baby greens. On older plants harvest outer leaves first by cutting at the base of the stem then working towards the centre as you go. One packet sows approximately 20' of row.
