Verbena - Ideal Florist Mixed (Seeds)

Description

Low growing and well structured in habit with large flowers in a wide range of unusual colours – many with attractive eyes! Good heat tolerance means it is ideal for sunny window boxes and container plantings. Plants are bushy but compact, growing to 30 cm (12″) in height.

How to Grow

350 seed/gram. As germination can be quite erratic, we suggest sowing seed heavily. Chill seed for 10 days before planting directly in the garden in mid-May. Select a sunny, well-drained site and sow directly on the surface. Keep evenly watered for the 20+ day germination period. Thin seedlings to 20 cm (8″) apart when they are 7.5 cm (3″) high. Seed can also be started indoors in a soil-less mix in mid-late April. After chilling the seed, leave seed uncovered and apply bottom heat at 24 C (75 F). Grow-on at 15 C (60 F) before hardening off and transplanting out after the danger of frost has passed.
